BYU Actuarial Science Program

Our Program will prepare you to:

  • Understand business problems and data
  • Use modern statistical and financial techniques to solve problems with those data
  • Become a fully-credentialled actuary (we prepare you for many of the preliminary exams)

University Earned Credit (UEC)

Our program qualifies for University Earned Credit through the SOA. If students earn at least 85% in certain courses, they earn credit for the related exam.

  • Stat 274 – Exam FM
  • Stat 344 and 346 – Exam FAM
  • Stat 444 – Exam ALTAM

Collings Alumni Fund

Thanks to generous alumni donations, we have a fund which pays for essentially all the student actuarial exam fees for the following exams: FM, P, FAM, ALTAM, ASTAM, SRM, MAS-I. Specifically, the fund will pay for the UEC fee or will reimburse the fee after the student passes the exam.
